In the 1930s the state Virginia opened the VMFA in Richmond. As numerous donations and acquisitions called for additional gallery space, the museum added four wings to the central building until the 1980s. The last expansion was completed 2010, and enlarged the museum's exhibit space to 650,000 square feet.

Together with our US-partner stabaArte Inc we delivered the VMFA with reusable walls, enabling the museum to adapt the architecture of its temporary exhibitions flexibly and sustainably.
