The NMAAHC is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture. The museum was designed and planned by several architecture and design offices, with lead designer David Adjaye and lead architect Philip Freelon (Adjaye Associates The Freelon Group). As 19th and newest museum the NMAAHC is part of the world's largest museum complex, the Smithsonian Institution.

In the course of preparing the exhibition "Watching Oprah", the NMAAHC commissioned us, together with our US distribution partner stabaArte Inc., to design walls which enable the exhibit designers to flexibly change the architecture for their temporary exhibits.
